GPR for the Locating Technician

March 26, 2019

This full day training course meets the the NULCA “Competencies for the GPR Technician” curriculum. The objective is to ensure that the user demonstrates knowledge, skill and understanding in applying GPR safely and professionally to locate utilities. GPR theory is covered, along with a major hands-on component allowing the students to acquire data. Emphasis is placed on proper survey procedure and data interpretation in both Line Scan and Grid Scan modes. Topics include:
• GPR theory
• Factors affecting target detection
• How GPR complements traditional EM locating
• Application of Line Scan and Grid Scans
• Hands-on equipment setup and data collection
• Data interpretation
• Case studies.

Upon completion, students will be confident in knowing when and how to apply GPR, set up the equipment, collect data and interpret the results.
