Senior Software Engineer

Sensors & Software Inc. is recognized worldwide as an innovative manufacturer of ground penetrating radar (GPR) instrumentation and software. Sensors & Software has recently been acquired by SPX Corporation joining their Detection & Measurement segment.

We are looking to recruit a Senior Software Developer to develop, test and document software.

Our offices are based in Mississauga, Canada. We will happily consider applications from candidates who wish to relocate to the area or would like to work remotely with regular travel to site.

About the Intermediate Senior Software Developer

The requirements of the role are broken down into two main areas:

Project Execution:

Analyze requirements to plan projects and sprints;
Provide regular and accurate progress updates to the project lead and stakeholders;
Create project execution and closing documentation;
Define, design and lead software development projects.

Technical Knowledge:

Architect/design, code, test and document new software;
Maintain and extend feature set of existing applications;
Practice and encourage agile development methods;
Practice and encourage the use of test driven development;
Participate in code review process as a submitter and reviewer;
Perform functional testing of software components and applications and develop / maintain automated tests;
Maintain understanding of current and new GPR technologies;
Be technical lead on medium to large size projects;
Applies critical thinking skills to make design decisions.

Main skills required for Senior Software Developer

A Bachelor of Computer Science / Computer Engineering or equivalent degree;
Servant leadership skills to lead and mentor peers;
Proficient in Software Architecture Design for Embedded and IoT systems;
Competent in System Design;
Proficient in developing APIs and SDKs;
Experience evolving embedded systems to connect to Cloud and Mobile Devices;
Experience with cross-platform frameworks (Example: React, Flutter, Kotlin)
Proficient in Linux (ARM) and Windows application development;
Proficient in Android development, competency in iOS is preferred;
Experience working with local and remote teams;
Experience in Agile and Waterfall development methodologies
